You could probably paste in one of these but things really haven't been too bad lately. I've been vaguely productive recently; MSO 7 lurches from looking like the best one yet and there are ways where I really can actually justify this to looking like lots of potential but we're bound to find lots of new ways to screw it up and back on a regular basis.
I've not been very productive, really, but I've been a fair bit more productive than usual on a number of fronts, so that makes a vaguely useful change. I've still been enjoying reading LJ and have been leaving lots of comments in other people's journals, even some sung badly. Things have definitely been worse.
This weekend I'm off to MSO Cambridge which happily coincides with j4's birthday party. Should be a lot of fun. Many happy returns for the 2nd (which has actually even started now, local time) to expetesso and for the 5th to both j4 and addedentry. One of the many nice things about going to see another LJ user is that there's an outside chance of being able to make a remote entry at their house; otherwise, I'll be back home in 96½ hours. Literally.
So many things I want to say; a few things I'd like to have said before going on this trip, but they should be just as much worth saying after the weekend. I'd also like to have had the time to describe in full the BBC 1 boxing commentator who said "y'know" on average once every five seconds. This is without exaggeration; I used the clock on-screen to time him.
Oh, and from the "Awwwwww" department (next to the "shut the tut up, you cynical bizastards" department): girl wins singing contest, girl wins contract to sing the national anthem before a major basketball game, girl starts singing, girl forgets words and chokes up twenty seconds through, bizarrely-named basketball coach walks up and helps girl out, basketball coach sings along awfully badly, girl and coach finish the song as a duet with the rest of the crowd accompanying. (Infotrail: official site to PLA to MetaFilter to mssv_tiny to here.) The video (3.8 MB, .asf) isn't for those who hate seeing people embarrassed and the big collection of fan e-mail is over-egging the pudding a little, but it's really a happy ending. Hush, you too-cool-for-the-room folk; it is.
Edit: voted today in the local elections. The people manning the polling station were reading the movie-release editions of HP&t Philosopher's Stone and HP&t Chamber of Secrets. I approved.
