Had a very strange dream last night about an extremely complicated puzzle game that I was running. However, due to not knowing all the answers, apparently I was playing in it at the same time. In the end, I ended up having to declare to the masses that the team which won was the one which had me as a member, which seemed very wrong. The game seemed to be set at both Nimbus - 2003 and the Mind Sports Olympiad, in a building with fiendish and slightly terrifying lifts. Not as pleasant as it ought to have been. I blame you folk who are going on about PuzzleDonkey, which I am officially Not Playing.
Game thought: a fair number of you know Liar's Dice, the version sometimes commercially known as Bluff or Perudo. Today I was wondering whether the two-player game would be more interesting if played with a doubling die, backgammon-style; one point for being left with dice when your opponent isn't, multiplied by the current stake. I have half a suspicion that the strategy would be too simple - offer a double when you have more dice left than your opponent - so perhaps there ought to be some balancing factors like "loser of dice starts next round", "can't offer a double when having more dice" and so on. Interesting?
I am in a lousy mood right now. I have read the last three weeks' local jobs papers and not one job from 1150 stood out at all. However, the local colleges and university are engaged in "Open Day" season right now, so tomorrow I think I will visit them to see what they have to offer. My current thinking, murky as it is, is that what I most need is database training for information analysis/provision-type jobs, for this is apparently where my last job application looked weakest. I'm not at all sure it's the direction I want to go, but it's better than no direction at all.
Someone I know and regarded as a good guy turns out to have been hit with a £4,200 fine and 240 hours of community service for counterfeiting Hollywood. Lots of conflicting views in my mind over this; I still think of him as a good guy to play Kick Off 2 or Super Bomberman against. That dates when I knew him, doesn't it?
I contrived to overhear the Fast Food Rockers' Fast Food Song in Hungry Jack's today, the first time I had heard it. I have more time for novelty songs than most, especially those featuring television meterologists of a certain age, but this clearly isn't a great one. Nevertheless, the (de-rocked) Aram Sa Sa variant always brings back happy memories of going to see a series one episode of Wanted being taped in late '96 with
Talking of novelty tunes, you've seen it everywhere else so you know the drill: username down the left-hand side of the acrostic, it's the snog name meme.

Amused to note that I have friends on my list from 2 to Z now... ooh no, I'm missing a U. Can I have U, please, Bob?
